Park History
Macomb Park was established in the 1950s. It’s been a second home to generations of Cleveland Park kids ever since.


One of the better-documented periods of Macomb Park history was in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when an extraordinary group of kids and park staff bonded over seemingly endless days of freedom that seems unthinkable by today’s standards.
Many of those people have stayed in touch in the years since, and in October of 2008, more than 100 – including old friends and their family members, as well as a few special DPR staff — convened from all over the country and abroad for a reunion at the park.
