The Restoration … Is Complete!

The long-awaited restoration of the Macomb Park gazebo began on March 15, 2010, and will conclude in mid-April, weather permitting. (Update, 4/9: the work finished ahead of schedule — check it out!) A team headed by Pete Ganginis, who built the gazebo in 1998, is performing the work under the guidance of Cleveland Park architect Dickson Carroll, who designed it.

Writes Dickson,

“It makes me so happy to see  spring renewal appearing in bright colors on the Macomb Park Gazebo!  … Thanks to Pete for doing a great job refurbishing his handiwork. I have been over several times and worked with Pete on selecting colors. We think it was last painted about eight years ago.”

Special thanks to the D.C. Department of Recreation for generously endowing this vital work.

A top-down restoration, March 19, 2010.
